UNIQUE CUT & ENGRAVED GLASS PICTURE FRAME, SILVER RIM, c. 1900, Size 12" x 14"

This listing is for a fabulous RARE American Brilliant Period engraved glass picture frame from the early 1900's.
Outside measurement is 14" high and 12" wide with the photo insert area measuring 9 1/4" high and 7 1/4" wide.
This lovely frame is engraved with a stylized floral swag on each side bordered by a engine-turned open basket weave design. There is an interior silver frame that borders the photo insert area with each corner being decorated with a lovely Art Nouveau style cover.  The outside edge of the glass is fitted into a slender silver frame with flattened round "buttons" at each corner. The back area covering the photo slot is black velvet and is attached to the front with small flattened buttons which connect to the applied decorative front corners of the photo area.  The back cover attaches to a velvet covered easel stand with a tight hinge and nicely supports the weight of the heavy glass front.
This beautiful unique frame dates to the early 1900's and is in excellent condition.  The front of the glass appears flawless although there are a few minor no-harm surfaces scratches on the silver frame from normal use.  This lovely frame was sold to me as Sterling Silver, however, we have not personally had it tested so are selling it as silver metal, i.e. silver-plated.  If it indeed tests as Sterling, you will just be getting an added bonus.
This is a great picture frame from the time when American Brilliant Period cut glass was at its peak.  This engraved glass frame is spectacular and will definitely become one of your favorite items!
