Japanese Satsuma Lobed Bowl, signed by Koshida, 4¾" diameter
Beautiful asymmetrical interior millefleur pattern of blossoming tree. Exterior landscape with birds, flowers and other flora.
Intricately rendered gilt highlights inside and out.
Serpentine edge aka multi-foiled aka lobed
Height: 4.6cm, just shy of 2"
Diameter: 12.2cm, 4.75" 4¾"
The bowl is in excellent condition overall.
There is one spot just below the rim where the gilt finish is missing. Glaze and background pigment are still there, so this may be how it was originally sold. See last photo.
Circular foot on bottom. Old price label present, written in what looks to be fine fountain pen or brush. Looks quite old. There are also the remains of another label. And a decal with the mark of the artist.
Based on similar examples, this looks to be Meiji Period, but I am not an expert.
