    Description

1842-87 DAVIS COLLAMORE & CO. New York Enameled Glass Cup & Plate Set Tumbler
Here is a gorgeous antique set, consisting of a matching plate and tumbler cup
Made of fine, hand blown clear glass, all hand enameled and decorated with thin layers of colored glass in a celled pattern decoration - foliate motifs against a blue, red, white and green organic pattern, blue band borders on the cup
    Gilt accents
Slightly tapered form and cut top rim on the tumbler
Made for the prominent Davis Collamore & Company of New York City, USA
The company was a high-end New York City importer of porcelain and glass during the 19th century, the main competitor of Tiffany & Co. and Black, Starr & Frost. It was founded on Broadway Street in 1842 and led by Davis Collamore (1820-1887) until his death. Collamore was a prominent socialite and businessman. The items sold by this firm are renowned for their outstanding quality and are highly sought after, just like they were back in the 1800's.
Most likely Bohemian in origin, made by skilled glassworkers, commissioned by Collamore. Circa 1842-1887.
The tumbler is signed on the underside, hand incised in a cursive script - DAVIS COLLAMORE & CO. NEW YORK
The signature by the craftsman (FH 82/7, or so) is also visible
